Thinking about moving in 2026? Questions to ask before you even open a home search engine or app.

Thinking about making a move in 2026? Before you start looking at homes online… hit pause for a second and let’s talk about the questions you should ask first.

You know how the end of the year makes everything slow down a bit? That’s usually when this thought sneaks in:“Should we move next year… or just stay put?” You don’t have to decide right now, but asking better questions gives you clarity without pressure.

What’s actually driving the idea of moving?

Is it space, schools, commute, family… or money and monthly costs?

Are you uncomfortable where you are, or just curious what’s possible?

Is this a timing problem—or a readiness problem?

Instead of “Should we wait?”

Try asking yourself, “What should I understand before we looking to move?

Also, this is the time to become honest with youself about the fear factors of moving. What are you most worried could go wrong? If you knew how to protect against that those fears…would this decision about moving feel any different? If you wait, what are you hoping will change? Interest Rates? Prices of homes currently on the market? Your confidence to move forward?

My friends, at the end of the day, it comes down to what matters most...

Monthly comfort or long-term equity?

Flexibility or top-dollar?

Less stress or more opportunity?

You don’t need all the answers right now to move forward. All you need is to be open to change, have a rough draft of your gameplan, and be committed to the process.

So if a move is even on your 2026 radar, my suggestion would be to not start with the home search applications. Start with the questions. If you want to walk through it with real numbers or need assistance with creating your game plan, know that you are in the right place at the right time. Colter Homes Arizona is dedicated to assisting all persons of all walks of this life.
